Why Living In The Moment Is What We Should Be Doing
Life hands us options and we have to choose at every step. However, the one thing that we humans choose instantly is planning for the future and not living in the moment. If we are handed with a choice to go for a small vacation at the moment or plan a world tour later, we will always go for the world tour. However, there are several things to prove that this could be a bad decision.
Here are some points to make us believe that living in the moment makes us happy eventually.
In the moment, you have absolute control over things: If you live in the present, you take control. However, in the future, you are completely speculating your own efforts while not taking into consideration the factors that are not in your control. Further, planning might help you accomplish your goals but it will not going to get you out of the present. There is no guarantee of the outcome, so why not make the present worth it?
Being in the present reduces stress: Thinking too much about the future causes so much stress that it often leads people to kill themselves. If not extreme, only living in the future leads to a person’s loss of physical, mental and emotional health. Living in the present allows you to extract happiness from the smaller things in life. Have simple thoughts and be aware, which will help you be more joyful in the present.
Consider each moment to be a gift: If you observe, beyond the screens of your cell phones, every moment we’re being blessed with something extraordinary. There is so much beauty in the world that having no materialistic pleasures can also make our life beautiful. Don’t take the present for granted. What goes by will not come again.
Plans have a chance of not succeeding: You should plan for the future; however, there should be some silver lining in case they do not succeed. Plans have a fair chance of not succeeding and when that happens, the present should not be lost upon.
The present brings us everything. We get happiness, sadness, anger, will, motivation, grief and every other emotion in the present. Living each emotion makes life worthwhile. When you live in the present, you respect yourself and other people. Planning for the future should be a part of life but living in the present should not be a lost cause.
